On the peninsula and national park of Cap de Creus the Pyrenees steeps into the Mediterranean Sea. The plain below is an old wetland and today a national park with a rich bird life. The area has been inhabited since ancient times and there are several ancient ruins from 10000 BC and onwards. In Pau there are a bar and a restaurant within walking distance of Paó Blau.
The coasts of Costa Brava offers both long sandy beaches and bold rock formations. You can practice a variety of mountain and beach activities such as mountain hiking, biking, skydiving and windsurfing. There are also several golf courses in the area.
In the mountains, there are both short and long hiking trails. Go straight from the house for an hour up to Creu Blanca, a memorial built 400 meters above sea level in the 15th century. From Creu Blanca you will have a wonderful view over the countryside and the sea. Or start your trekking all the way to the Campostella di Santiago, one of the world’s most famous religious routes.
In the area, olives and grapes are cultivated. Several producers have their own shops where you can taste and buy their products. Some also have guided tours of the production.
